WRATH OF EIDOLA PHOTO SHOOT

I recently did a photo shoot with local heavy metal band Wrath of Eidola here on Okinawa Japan. The idea was to get some promotional shots the band could use in conjunction with the release of their new album "Sentinel". We decided to start with a studio shoot, then head to the beach for a few out door shots. For the studio shoot I opted to shoot them all individually and then recompile the images into a group shot later, the main reason for this was to create a more interesting lighting effect when the shot was compiled. I think it worked out pretty well.

Club Fujiyama Okinawa,Japan

If your are here in Okinawa, or heading this way in the near future, then it is well worth your while to swing over to Club Fujiyama; Okinawa's premiere live house bar, Located near Kadena's gate 2.

The bar has been around for ages, but has recently changed hands and is now owned and operated by Thomas "Remy" a young and energetic Canadian who has been living in Okinawa for the past 9 years.

The bar is unusually big for Japan, with a good sized dance floor, full stage and lighting and a long bar that is tended by Remy and a couple of super cute Japanese girls.

It is worth while checking their Facebook page to see what bands are on, but even if you are just looking for a good chat and a beer then Fujiyama is the place to go.

Hope to see you there, I will be the kook with the camera!

Yeeewwwwwwww!

RUN-G (RUN it to GROUND) Live @ Fujiyama Jan 15th 2012

Well last night was crazy fun down at Fujiyama again. RUN-G have a solid following within the military community, I couldn't count how many guys walked into the bar asking when does RUN-G hit the stage? I didn't stay for the whole set, as I had to be at work early this morning, but I managed to snap a few shots of this ultra cute trio of Japanese girls wailing and turning all the red blooded guys in the bar into gooey goop!

You can expect to see a whole lot of images of RUN-G on this blog, as I am now a bit of a die hard fan!

enjoy and comment...yeeewwwwwww!

WRATH OF EIDOLA (WOE) @ FUJIYAMA JAN 15th 2012

What can I say without sounding like a sycophant? Wrath of Eidola are hot, not just Okinawan summer hot, but more like smoldering pits of hell hot! This five piece band combine some serious technical skill with massive amounts of raw power, which culminates in a live to be felt, not just seen. Front man Justin "Tonk" Tonkery, opens up the gig with a demand to the crowd to get their asses to the front and go fucking hard! (paraphrasing here), the first song starts with some crazy hard riffs from both guitarists, Hidekun & Paul "Issei" Robinson before drummer Takahiro "Ganzo" Ganaha & bassist Masaharo "Shun" Yamauchi unleash hell. Tonk mixes solid vocals with insane death growls to bring the demons out to play and the band just keeps stepping it up from start to finish... At the end of the set the crowd are screaming for more, and the band is raring to go, but has to give up the stage to the next act. Wrath of Eidola will be back at Club Fujiyama next friday, so if you are keen to get some serious hardcore damage to your frontal lobe, be there and go hard!...Yeewwwwwwww.

FAKE KINGZ @ Fujiyama Jan 13th 2012

Once RUN-G finished their set, there was a short break before the FAKE KINGZ took the stage, my first impression of the lead singer Ryota was how much he resembled the stage presence of Hiroto front man for the blue hearts. He had the same energy, squeezing every bit of energy out of his body on each roar, yet, there was a new aged edginess that though seems to have been born of a more classic punk scene, now has roots in more recent bands, in particular Korn. The FAKE KINGZ have so much energy, they seemed almost squashed on the smallish stage of Fujiyama, yet in another way it was like a shot gun, firing round after round of energy and passion out from the stage to the audience. Despite the urging of Ryota, the crowd seemed to be way to subdued to join the band and get a mosh pit going, which considering the effort the band was making, the skill in which they were executing each song, was a piss poor act on behalf of the crowd who didn't even have to pay to enter. A few punters took to the dance floor to go a little nuts, but all in all the crowd was a bit of a let down.

All negative crap aside, I went into Fujiyama that night not knowing that I was going to leave with two new favorite hardcore bands on my list. yewwwwww!

Here are a few shots I fired off during the show, enjoy and don't forget to comment.
